What LendPlus is
LendPlus is an online short-term lender operated by Lendplus Technology (Pty) Ltd, a South African company (registration 2023/805154/07) that states it is a registered credit provider with the National Credit Regulator under number NCRCP17814. Unlike a comparison service, LendPlus lends its own money: it assesses your application, issues the credit agreement and collects repayments. The company works only online through its website and mobile app and says it does not accept walk-ins or ask for payments through unofficial channels.
Loan conditions at a glance
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Loan amount | From R500 up to R4,000 |
| Term | Short-term; the calculator on the site starts at 5 days (up to about 35 days according to advertiser data) |
| Decision | From about 15 minutes, 24/7 according to the FAQ |
| Repayment | Debit order from your verified bank account (DebiCheck), or online payment |
| Extension | Possible: apply in your profile at least 2 days before the due date and pay accrued interest and fees |
The FAQ says the limit of R4,000 is available to repeat customers, so a first loan may be smaller. The site does not publish an interest rate or fee table; the exact interest, initiation fee and monthly service fee appear in the pre-agreement statement and quotation you receive before you sign.
What you need to apply
- A valid South African ID.
- Your latest 3 months of bank statements, which can be shared with your consent through the TruID service.
- A valid cell phone number.
- A bank account for the payout and the debit order. The Terms state that you must be over 18.
How to apply
- Choose the amount on the loan calculator and create an online profile.
- Complete the client form with full and accurate details; the site says this takes about 7 minutes.
- Share proof of income through TruID or upload your bank statements.
- If the affordability assessment is favourable, you receive an offer subject to final review.
- Accept the credit agreement and confirm the DebiCheck mandate in your banking app. The money is then paid to your account.
What a loan can cost
Under the National Credit Act, the cost of a loan is made up of interest, an initiation fee and a monthly service fee. LendPlus does not publish its rates on the website, so an example calculation is not possible here. Use the pre-agreement statement to compare the total repayable amount with your monthly budget before accepting.
Advantages and drawbacks
- Registered credit provider with a published NCR number and a Cape Town physical address.
- Fully online process with video guides for getting bank statements and confirming DebiCheck.
- Free extension service, apart from the interest and fees due.
- Payout to an eWallet is available when banks are closed, according to the FAQ.
- Small amounts and short terms mean the cost per rand borrowed can be high.
- Rates and fees are shown only after you apply.
- A late payment attracts a late fee and may be reported to credit bureaus.
- Approval is not guaranteed and depends on an affordability check.
Borrow responsibly
A registered lender must check that you can afford the loan. Borrow only what you can repay on the due date, and if you struggle with existing debt, speak to a registered debt counsellor before taking new credit.
