What Creditum is
Creditum (creditum.co.za) is an online loan comparison tool for South Africa. It is not a credit provider and does not lend money itself. You fill in one application and receive non-binding offers from lenders and banks. The site says it works with Myloan.co.za and with NCR-registered credit providers only, and that the comparison service is free of charge for consumers. The website is operated by Summarum Media Oy, a company registered in Finland. The footer also names Avica Group in Cape Town as the partner that provides the loan comparison.

Who can apply
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are a South African resident.
- You have a valid ID number.
- You have your own phone number and email address.
Lenders in the network apply their own criteria, so a lender may ask for proof of income, bank statements or a higher minimum age.
How to apply
- Choose the amount you need with the slider and enter your email address.
- Accept the terms of use and privacy policy and submit the form; the site says offers arrive in about two minutes.
- Compare the offers, which are non-binding, and ignore any that do not suit you.
- If you choose an offer, finish the application with that lender, who decides on the loan and pays it out.
What a loan can cost
Under the National Credit Act, the cost of a loan is made up of interest, an initiation fee and a monthly service fee. Creditum's own example: a loan of R30,000 over 36 months at a maximum annual interest rate of 28% would be about R1,360 a month including the initiation fee and monthly service fees. The site adds that rates may start as low as 11%. Use this only as an illustration; your lender's quote will differ.
Advantages and drawbacks
- One application instead of several, with several offers to compare.
- Free for consumers and no obligation to accept an offer.
- Only NCR-registered credit providers, according to the site.
- Comparing offers does not affect your credit score, the site says.
- Creditum does not decide on your loan, so approval is not guaranteed.
- Your details go to partner lenders and you may receive marketing by email, phone or SMS if you agreed to it.
- Some offers on the site are third-party advertising for which it may receive compensation.
- Repayments and queries about a loan are handled by the lender, not by Creditum.
Before you accept an offer
Read the credit agreement, check the total repayable amount, the APR and the due dates, and confirm that the lender is registered with the National Credit Regulator. Borrow only what your budget can carry. The site warns that applications are processed only through creditum.co.za and that it never asks for personal details by SMS or messaging apps.
